Are wood screws allowed in my carry on luggage?

This may sound dumb, but i'm going to Florida in about a month, and I have a homemade wooden iPhone dock with wood screws in it. Will the TSA have me throw it away? Will it show up on the x-Ray scanner? Any answers would be appreciated.

You can easily google the TSA requirements. Or you can use some common sense. There's no problem with metal objects in your carry on bag. You just can't have any metal on your body when you walk through the scanner. Things made from wood are certainly not a problem. They are looking for things that could be a threat for highjacking the plane, like knives or things with a sharp blade, or things that could be explosive, which is why there's a limit on liquids in your carry on.

Any kind of screws are fine. There are no rules against them. You can put them in your carry-on or your checked bag.

  • Teen girls: What to take in my hand luggage? I'm going to the Algarve in August, and I want to know what to take in my hand luggage, besides: My iPhone iPod Camera (I might use my phone dunno yet) (iPad if I save up enough for one) A couple of books, such as the Hunger Games. My Kindle Fire. And a change of clothes. I have a few personal things I always take. What else do I need? The flight is only 2 and a half hours, but it seems like ages once you're on the plane.
