ATT data plan and Wi-Fi usage?

I got a iPhone and am probably going to get a 50mb data plan. I'm doubting if it will be enough for one month but I will also be using my Wi-Fi from home. My question is, is there a certain way I should configure my iphone so it will only use Wi-Fi and not any of my data from the plan while I'm at home? Or will it do this automatically?

50 mb is not much at all. 300mb would probably not be enough even though you will use Wi-Fi a lot. You can always start low and if you go over you can change your data plan to reflect what you use.

Your phone will configure it's self and know when to use Wi-Fi or data.

  • Why is our data usage plan be using up? I'm receiving texts that says my data usage plan is 75% used up yesterday and then 90% used up today. I'm confused because I'm the only one listed on the plan and I'm not using Safari on my iPhone? What else could consume my data plan? (Yes, I called my provider, Verizon, and they didn't know either.)
  • Which data plan should I get? ATT iPhone? I'm going somewhere for 3 weeks and I need to upgrade my data plan because I'll be using Turn by turn directions ALOT! I currently have 300 MB (lowest) of data each month. The next few upgrades are 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB, etc. I'll be needing to use the internet more, emails, google, and using maps with Siri. Anyone have any information?
  • What's the cheapest att data plan? Say if i got five iphone 4, for my family. What will be the cheapest data plan and texting and voice plans i can get? I tried to look on the website but it didn't help me. I heard the cheapest i could pay is 20 dollars a month for internet. But i also heard we could all share like 1 gb. Its just hard to upgrade when att limits the non smart phones a consumer can buy.
  • Under settings on my iPhone, does the data usage include Wi-Fi usage? Because its stating a ridiculous amount and I've had my data off… And my Wi-Fi on. Does the total of data include the amount of Internet I'm using when on Wi-Fi? I'm so confused
