Don't try to download free music on an iPhone or an iPod. My friend has tried it multiple times, and every time he has, his iPod crashed. You need a mac to download free music, or else you will get viruses. But if you do have a mac, then beemp3 and 4shared are ones that I personally use, but there are countless numbers of free music downloading websites to use.

Just use any of your mp3 files, select and add them into itunes, then copy to the iphone.
