Bypass the activation screen for iPhone?

I need to bypass the activation screen on my iPhone 3G. I tried Resn0w but once it is done my phone stops on a blank screen. I tried unplugging and putting it in DFU mode but still no luck. I tried upgrading but it says unkown error. The sim card holder is broken so i can't put a sim in it. I just wanna use it as a iPod.
