Can I connect an iPhone (or any 3.5mm device) to USB speakers using a USB soundcard?
Basically my sister has a pair of USB speakers that get their power and audio through USB nothing else. She now wants to start using them with her iPhone, but it has no 3.5mm input. I was wondering if I purchased a USB sound card, like this

Plugged the iPhone into the sound card and the USB cable from the speakers would it work?
I was looking for a powered sound card because I don't know how the sound card or the speakers will get power plus the sound card may only be one way right? (USB to 3.5mm not 3.5mm to USB)
No. Both the speakers and that sound adapters are strictly USB PC audio devices, not plug converters between the USB plug and audio jacks. Those need a PC or other compatible host device to work.
You simply need to either get speakers with aux/line in, or re-wire those so that you can feed audio to their amplifiers, after the USB interface chip.
- Why can't my laptop recognize any apple device. Any solutions? I tried connecting my ipod nano and my iphone 4 to my laptop but "device was not successfully installed" keeps on popping out. I tried installing ITunes but "I tunes was not properly installed. If you wish to burn cd, please reinstall" keeps on popping up. - Why can't I connect to my office VPN from a laptop using USB tethering to my iphone? If I switch from USB tethering to Wi-Fi tethering it immediately works. It is somehow specifically tied to USB tethering. I have no problem accessing the internet with USB tethering, just the VPN.
