Can I transfer my apps (progress) and data from an iPod to my iphone 5?
Well i don't want to have to carry around both my ipod and i phone so i'm wondering is there a way to transfer like game saves from an ipod to an iphone via itunes or icloud and if so can someone please say how

Yes! Using iCloud that comes standard with your new 4S (but you'll probably want the iPhone 5 by next April), you can sync with your iPod touch (settings-icloud-storage and backup- back up now) and get all of your info onto the new device. If you think you may need a little help doing so, when you get your new phone, be sure to update your i Touch to IOS 5 and bring it in to the apple store when you're ready to purchase the 4S. They'll help you transfer everything there… Or you can easily do it at home by backing up onto iCloud with both devices. Hope this helps!
