Put your iPhone in DFU mode and iTunes will detect and update to ios8, just check YouTube on how to put iPhone into DFU mode, if jail-broken never go to general and reset otherwise you will be stuck into apple infinite loop. If not in a hurry wait with jailbreak till Christmas until new JB arrives.
No. You have to reset your Iphone to get the new iOS, because the Jailbreak is only compatible with the iOS version you jailbroke it with.
