Can you use an unactivated iPhone an an iPod?
My dad wants to get an iPod but iPhone's are cheaper. Can he buy a new iphone and then use it as an iPod without activating it?

I'm pretty sure you can… I've always thought of iPods as I phones but without the 'phone' part. I think iPods are cheaper…
IPod is cheaper… Don't mistake the prices you see from Cell carriers as a purchase price - it's not. That is just the up front price with 2 years of cell service. The actual cost is much more.

- Will a verizon iphone 4s show that you have service even if unactivated? I have verizon iphone 4s… There's "no service" showing in the top left corner. The iphone does in fact have NO service from verizon because i didn't pay any for it but my question is would the phone have service showing there regardless of if i'm able to use it? Like I want to make sure it's not a hardware issue.
