Can you use any Tmobile data plan on a factory unlocked iphone 4/4s?

I wanna buy a iPhone but since my parents wanna stick to tmobile so i'm forced into unlocking an iPhone if i buy one. I don't wanna spend the 30 bucks/month for 4g cause between me, my brother, and my mom, its pretty expensive. So i was thinking about getting the 256 MB plan for $10/month. NOTE that i'm not really gonna be using my data cause i usually don't go anywhere that doesn't have Wi-Fi. So really, my point of confusion is if i'm able to use that 256 MB plan on an iPhone thats factory unlocked.

  • Will I be charged a data plan if I buy a factory unlocked iphone? I want to buy a factory unlocked iphone 4s off ebay. I currently have a 3g that's unlocked but I don't believe it's factory unlocked. If I put my sim card into this new 4s will AT&T know and add the data plan? I've heard this can happen before but is it just for people who buy factory unlocked phones through Apple or AT&T or is it for all factory unlocked phones?

I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.

And no I don't want an iPod touch and basic cell phone. Will this work I need a 100% sure answers cause I can't afford the data plan.
