Connecting to the internet issues?

I'm having issues with connecting to the internet on my new laptop. I bought it recently and it seemed fine until one day it says that it was connected to the internet but it wouldn't load any website page or run any of my games I play that use the internet. Now, my husband when I have these problems his laptop and Iphone seem to connect to the internet perfectly fine even though I can't.
I have spoken to my internet provider and they don't know what could be causing it. I have had it on my other laptop but I just put it down to it being quite old.
My laptop Is a HP Pavilion G6 with windows 8.

Any suggestions?

Open charms, settings, control panel, network and internet, view network status and tasks, troubleshoot… Perhaps you might find something there… Anyway look around that area for possible options.see that it is working online (there's an offline mode) I got the very same laptop, and no problem at all. Once Windows update did some bad writing in my Hd during an update, and the laptop was totally dead, this was a few days after buying it, not knowing what to do, i hit the on switch plus the esc key and that brought up an HP recovery menu that solved the problem and got the laptop working like a charm! So I'm sure there's a simple way to get you online, look for it, and if not, call HP support, they WILL definitely help you.

PS this might sound silly, but be sure the little light on the F12 key is blue and not orange… Lol.

You don't mention your ISP or if you are using their wireless link to your Modem, I mention this wireless link as its the weakest link in the system normally so, If you are not using the Ethernet cable to your router, I bet, your problems going to be that wireless link, try moving closer to or use the cable option to prove the point… Good luck
