Difference between ipod touch and iphone? - 1

I'm thinking about asking my parents to get my a ipod touch for my birthday. I have an iphone but it just drains battery even when i don't use it and i can't use the power off thingy because it just turns it back on after a couple minutes. Also, my instagram isn't working on my iphone, everytime i click on it, it just shows all white then goes back to home screen. So back to the ipod thing, Is it a better choice? Also what are the differences? And also my friends told me that you can't call on the ipod.

The difference is:

One is a phone, the other is not

You need to be more specific, what iPhone? What iPod? There are many versions, all have different specs

If you already have an iphone you don't need an ipod

An iPod is an iPhone without the "phone" hardware. It can't make phone calls, use sms texts, or use cellular data (no 4G LTE, etc.) It an use Wi-Fi and that's it. It's basically a tiny iPad.
