Do i need to unlock my iphone for it to work in New Zealand?

I'm going traveling and would like to know if i need to unlock it before it will work or whether i just need to insert my sim and go?

YES
All iPhones are locked to the 1st network SIM that is put in them.
Unless you bought direct from an apple shop AND asked for a completely unlocked phone.

So you now need to go to the network you are using,
and follow their unlock policy - whatever it is
- some need at least 12 months from starting before they will unlock
it should be about 15-20 pounds whichever network it is.

  • Will an Australian Iphone 4s work in New Zealand? My Nana lives in australia and has an Iphone 4s to give to me. She has used it but need the screen replaced as it was dropped on the bathroom tile floor. But she is getting it replaced for me. I'm not sure where she purchased it from, I do think I will have to get it unlocked because she was on a plan that you pay it off for 24 months. I'm not too sure if it can be and if so where? I would ask her but she doesn't know squat about technology.
