Do Ipods/Iphones have GPS tracking chips in them?

Like if they do, would you be able to open them up and remove the chips for use in other things? For example, if I removed a GPS chip from an iPhone and put it inside my wallet or something I lose frequently, would I be able to use the Find My iPhone app to find my wallet? I know it sounds dumb but i'm just curious. Pretty sure thats not how gps chips work but i don't know haha

It should actually work

Yes they do

There's no such thing as a GPS tracking chip. What you are thinking is mostly fiction.

Real life GPS tracking involves a GPS receiver module, computer, some sort of data transmitter/modem, and a battery. An iPhone has all that as part of its system as a whole, an iPod doesn't (all of it anyways)

Only the iPhone has a GPS receiver, not the iPod Touch, If the receiver was in your wallet how would you power it?

Seems you have a problem like me loosing things here and there. I got solution for such problem why don't you also try this? All the best hope you got solution for your problem.

  • Why do people with iphones also have ipods? A lot of people I know have iphones. But they also have ipod touches. Why? If you have an iphone (which is the exact same thing as an ipod touch plus calling capability) where is the need for an ipod touch? Just doesn't make sense to me.
  • Why do girls take their iPhones and iPods into the bathroom? It always seems to be girls rather than boys who have accidents with these things falling into the toilet. This morning, my friend told me at church that she dropped her iPhone into the toilet at home while she was getting ready for church. She went to the bathroom, and it accidentally fell into the toilet just after she flushed it, so it went down along with everything else. Now her parents are going to have to call a plumber tomorrow because the toilet doesn't flush properly now.
  • What GPS tracking iphone apps (cycling and running) can be used without a 3G signal? I have been using both endomondo and mapmyride for my running and cycling. When I came to track my mountain biking neither of the apps would start a workout because I was out in the sticks with no network connection. I wasn't expecting any live maps, but was expecting either one of the above to be able to track my coordinates by GPS, to be uploaded later. Shame really because I like the apps. Do they actually works without a network signal and I'm missing something?
  • What app can I use for gps tracking? I want to track my husband's locations cuz I think he's cheating. All the apps I look at tell me he needs the app on his phone too but he doesn't have an android or iphone. So what app can I use to secretly track his location of his phone? One that works and preferably cheap or free.
