Do material things really bring happiness?

People are so shocked when I say I have a MacBook, iPhone 5s, smart tv, etc people call me spoiled and this and that and say I must be happy but those things don't seem that important to me, I get what I want and I'm still not happy, I just want the simple thing of having a real friend, and I don't even have that but most people do, but lol so do material things really bring happiness to others?

You're a prime example that they don't. Happiness does not come from being wealthy and having a lot of things, it comes from within you. It comes with being satisfied with what you have, but if what you have is not everything you want them you won't be happy. It also comes from the kind of people you spend your time with.

I have two opinions on what you said
1#material goods can bring you happiness depending on what it is and the situiation
for example lets just say you had a job you works your a** off to get what you wanted say gaming pc you get the satisfaction of working hard to get what knowing that you worked hard to get that pc and you have something to show for that hard work but the happiness is short lived cause sooner or later you will get use to having it so basically the same feeling when you get a new phone that's better
but lets say a realitive passed on and left a particular item that you had a lot of good memory's with like lets say their fishing rods and you spent alot of past time fishing
you can get alot of happiness ness from that just from the memories you had with them because those items help you remember what the good times with the so items with a lot of centnental value
