Does AT&T record how many times you file an iPhone insurance claim?

I'm genuinely clumsy. I've already lost my iPhone 4s twice in the past month. I have the insurance coverage, and all I had to do was pay the deductable (still a hefty $200) and they replaced my iPhone 4s. I still haven't found the two others that I've lost… I'm worried about losing this one as well and I keep hearing all these stories about people going to jail for insurance fraud. I'm just wondering if there's a limit to how many times I can file an insurance claim before they finally say "no, you hit our limit" or "say hello to our law suit you criminal". Even if I lose the phone again, I won't file claim if I would get in trouble for it.

I would really appreciate it if someone who worked for AT&T or someone who's familiar with these policies could answer.

Sorry if I seem like I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm a med student, not a lawyer lol.

I have no idea how many or how often you can make ins claims.

It would only be ins fraud if didn't lose the phone, I guess if you find your old phones you might be required to return them. After you report the phone as lost, they will block the phones ESN. Making the phone useless.

ANY insurance plan, will keep track of the number of claims you file.

OF course they do.

With most plans, it flat out doesn't matter. The one you lose, is permanently deactivated - can't be used again, EVER, even if you find it. Not by you, not by someone else. And the combination of the hefty deductible and monthly payment, when considering that you get someone else's REFURB, means that they make money, every time you file a claim.

This isn't fraud, until/unless you find an old phone, and DON'T send it back to them.

Yes, some policies do say "two claims a year". You'll need to check YOUR policy to see if that's the case.

  • What supporting docs do i need to make an insurance claim for iphone? Hello I'm thinking of insuring my phone (and maybe my bike) and since i never had insurance. I would like to know what supporting documents I will be needing in case of making a claim. Eg. Do i need proof of purchase? Cause mine is a replacement from apple and they didn't provide me anything.
  • Water damaged iphone (insurance claim)? I filed a claim with Asurion through verizon, I was required to pay 169$ for a replacement phone. the problem is that troubles me is that the only problem with the phone is that after it dropped in the water, the screen has a drip mark that won't go away, it won't turn off and there are some tones that don't play.other than that it works fine. what I'm asking is if the claim is still legitamate. It's still noticeable damage, but is it claim worthy noticeable damage?
  • WATER DAMAGE iPHONE, file a claim? On 12/04/12 I dropped my phone in the toilet, and it is completely broken, trust me. I didn't know that if you try to turn it on after, that it would short circuit, so I messed up pretty badly. Now, I have cell phone insurance through asurion cell phone insurance, and they want a 169$ deductible for a replacement… How do I lie to them and say that it was a phone malfunction and not water damage?
  • USPS lost my package from eBay and the seller refunded me, should I still file a missing package claim? I had ordered the iPhone 7 for my birthday last week and I never received my package. I went through a whole ordeal with USPS (who was no help at all). Eventually the eBay seller was happy to issue me a full refund but I'm wondering if it's worth my time to file a missing package claim.
