When iPhone 4S iOS 7 is on Do Not Disturb, and I send a text off, does it still send?

Yes it still sends, DND only stops notifications for incoming alerts

What does the do not disturb switch do? On my IPhone, I wanted to see what the "Do Not Disturb" button does. Everything worked, messages, emails, and calls. What does it do?
What does the do not disturb button do on iPhone 4? I put it on bc when I sleep I don't want my parents seeing that I got a text or call but my friend just texted me when I wanted to sleep and i don't know why it's not working bc isn't it not suppose messages to come or calls
My photos are not sending in group messages, but are sending in individual messages? I'm with Straight Talk Wireless. At first my pictures were sending in the group message but now they are not. I don't know what's wrong, all my settings are what they are suppose to be, and I'm currently on an iPhone 5s IOS 8.4.
Iphone Do Not Disturb Not working? I downloaded the new IOS for my Iphone 4s and set the Do Not Disturb function up to come on at 9 pm and go off at 7:30 am. I see the moon symbol on the screen so it shows the DND is on, and I have set 3 numbers as favorites, but the favorites are still not ringing through. I missed a call the other night from a favorite, didn't ring, didn't light up the screen, nothing. Am I missing something?
