Does free Wi-Fi count against your data?

I have a iphone 4, the plan is unlimited texting and talking but its a no data plan (which i think means no surfing the web?), so i'm confused, if I use the free Wi-Fi in starbucks, airports etc. Would that count against my plan or no?

No it doesn't Data is something else that's used for internet and Wi-Fi is something else

No, the Internet connectivity is not through your carrier's towers, but rather through a local access point. Your carrier wouldn't even know that you have used the Internet if you stay on Wi-Fi.

Yes if you do not have a data plan it means no surfing the web but if you are connected to a free Wi-Fi no it doesn't not count against your plane. Its your Wi-Fi they can't tell you that you can't use or connect to it. They can even charge you for it.

Wi-fi traffic is not bound to the sim card. So it will not count against your GSM operator.

No as long as your connected to the Wi-Fi hot spot your good
