No, unlocking an iPhone doesn't magically upgrade it's hardware.
Unlocking the phone allows it to be free from a specific carrier. It doesn't guarantee that your phone will work with every single carrier that exists.
There are technical differences between certain iPhone models, in that some models have some bands while other models have different bands.
If the phone is incompatible due to not having the correct bands, then no amount of software/unlocking will help.
