Does looking at an iPhone 5S screen all day strain your eyes?

What about at night? (Dimly lit room or pitch black room) I'm already badly nearsighted and wear glasses… (-5.00 prescription). And by straining your eyes will this make your vision worse. And does the same go to any other electronic device (ex. TV, computer, iPad, etc?)

From my own experience, looking at the screen for a long time does strain your eyes. When I occasionally look at the screen for a long period of time in a single day - sometimes including nighttime - I tend to feel some strain in my eyes. I always get afraid of hurting my eyes after that, and always rest my eyes for a day or two before I go back to it. My eyes still feel perfectly fine.

Of course it will hurt your eyes

  • Will Apple Retail Stores refill stock one day after launch day? If in any way an Apple Retail store runs out of stock after launch day of the new iPhone 6, is there any chance that by the next day there will be new stock already again? Or does sold out mean = sold out for a few weeks.
  • My eyes hurt, especially whe looking at a screen, why? So recently my eyes started hurting, especially in the back when I look at my iphone screen or a screen in general, I haven't been having lots of screen time but I would watch about an hour to two hours of netflix on my phone when I go to bed, and my eyes are a bit more sensitive to light, are they just irritated or is there some bigger problem?
  • How to cure chronic eye strain? I started getting this after getting an iPhone and using it to do work. It's been around for about 6 months now. How can I cure this?
  • Glasses that protect your eyes from laptop screen, iPhone screen, etc? So lately I have been performing a lot of work/activities on my iphone and laptop and my eyes fell overworked, irritated, dried out. This couldn't be good in the long run. So is there any type of glasses I can wear that will protect my eyes when staring at the monitor for excessively long hours?
