Does Unlock River actually work?
I wan't to unlock my Bell AT&T iPhone 4s. Does UnlockRiver actually work. (Don't bother posting links I won't click them)
Iphone unlocks (or rather unlatching - allowing other SIMs to be used) are processed by Apple and send as an update directly to the specific phone; there are no codes or unlock that can be done on the phone itself.
The process is started by your telephone service provider sending an unlatch request through to Apple.
(Without me looking at/clicking on possibly dodgy web sites)
The only places I have seen that can genuinely do unlatches are phone sellers who will lie to Apple and put requests through for anyone, if you pay enough; probably more than the value of an iphone 4, for the last one I looked at.
If they claim to unlock by some other means, it's a scam.
Note that some "jailbreak" tricks may make a phone appear to be unlocked, but if you ever have to reset or restore it, it will revert to AT&T only or whatever - it's not actually a true unlatch.
