Has my iphone short circuited? Can i repair it from water damage?

Last night my phone fell in the toilet. I immediately got it out and put toilet paper over the ends and sucked to try and get the water out. I was then out for a while, i turned my phone off but then needed to turn it on again to find my friends to get home. The screen took a long time to load (kept switching between the apple and black) but it used to do that quite a bit anyway. It did have what looked like water in the screen. Like from the top to middle of the screen

When i got home a put it in a plastic bag with rice but did not cover much of it. I also plugged it in to charge which I now Know was a bad idea.
Today i have moved it too a box filled with rice but i can't get the sim card out (i don't have the little key thing at uni with me) and when it eventually turned on was saying no signal and it said it was charging but did not change from 4%.
1. Has it short circuited (pretty sure if so thats it)
2. Is there anything else i can do/am i doing the right thing?

If the battery is not charging then I'm pretty sure it has short circuited. There's nothing you can do about it at home so try and take to an apple store. If you are lucky then they may replace it. If that doesn't work then there are private shops where people crack open I phones and replace damged parts with new ones. Not sure if there's one around your city.

You wrapped the phone in toilet paper and sucked on it? The phone you just took out of the toilet. How did that taste?

The first thing to do when a phone gets wet is to remove the battery, but with an iPhone that is not an option. Use a hair dyer to blow heated air across and possibly into the phone. Get it too hot to hold but not so hot you can't touch it. I wish that rice urban legend had never started - it does more harm than good. The rice does not actually dry anything, it prevents drying; and it can get rice dust into wet parts inside… Bad news.

  • Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
  • Iphone submerged in water, logic board has water damage? My phone was under water for 10 sec. Atleast and in my wet pocket for about 2 minutes. Led wouldnt turn off and power / lock button didn't work… Put it in rice and two days later i charge it apple logo pops up then writing pops up above the apple logo. Will the guy taking my phone to clean it out and try to fix it need my passcode? And will my contacts, apps, photos, music, internet history still be on my phone? Like when he fixes it turns and on and stuff?
  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
  • Cheapest water damage repair service? My phone has some water damage and I want to know which company does it the cheapest. I really need the cheapest of the cheapest. Broke-my-iphone.com does it for $49 and ifixyouri.com does it for $60. I want to know if I could go any cheaper. I live in the Dallas, Texas area so maybe I could go somewhere?
