Household Duties? Who does what?

My husband of 8 years works about 30 Hours or less a week, usually afternoon shifts, so spends quite alot of time at home during the day. During this time he spends alot of time on his iPhone, watching TV or trying to get more sleep. He NEVER wakes up before me, NEVER cooks. Has just started doing things speratically around the house (only when prompted) including dishes and clothes washing(maybe once a week)

We have a 6 year old girl and a 10 month old boy. It has been my responsibility to do the night shift with both kids, neither of whom slept well, sometimes resulting in a tired and grumpy wife who needs a bit of help around the house. I figure if I'm up all night with bub that he should get up first to make breaky( NEVER happens!)

I do most everything (except the 3 things that he seems to take on as "his jobs" -mow lawn, put out garbage and treat pests, though these jobs are once a week, month and quarter) but feel like there isn't enough balance between the effort and energy I put into our house and his work/house effort.

Its not only the fact that he doesn't do the things I would like him to, its the fact that it doesn't OCCUR to him that they need to be done in the first place!

What I would like to know is WHO does what in other marriages? Is there a clear line? Or do I just expect too much?

OR Is every man really just a big, hairy 10 year old?

Help! Feel like life is easier when he is not around!

Maybe you should dump him, you don't need another baby around

Sadly this is very common. You need to explain to him exactly what you said here.

You African American? Live in the South?
Oh, now I'm getting banned. But who cares? The truth hurts.

DO what your want your a grown Woman.

I'm not married, but me and my fiancé have lived together for almost 4 years. Deal is: I make the meals, he cleans up after, does the dishes and puts away. He washes the laundry, I fold and put it away (men have no idea how to fold properly) he cleans the kitchen, sweeps and mops, I clean the bedroom and the bathroom. Odd jobs that come up once in a while it will more often than not be him that does it.

Did you fail to say, or did I miss it? Do YOU work outside the home? If you do not, I don't see where you have too much gripe coming!

Have you talked with your husband about this? Communication is the cornerstone of a relationship. Get him to sit down with you and talk about your issues at home. And who knows? Next time you wake up, he'd be mowing your lawn at the brink of dawn.

  • Why does my Mods for Sims 3 does not work? I followed all the directions for installing the mods and rechecked it a lot of times. Whenever I opened my Sims 3, it doesn't work, for example, the Iphone Mod. I rechecked it a dozen times and even updated the game, for I once theorized that the problem must be it and it wasn't! I installed the Monkey Helper and nothing changed. My Sims 3 is version 1.36.
  • Who pays custom duties (Shipper or Receiver)? I sold a iPhone to someone in Maldives (some island in who knows where). If I ship it there, will my buyer be the one responsible for the import duty or tariff?
