How to delete emails on an iphone without?

Opening them?
As soon as I click on an email, it opens, whether I want to open it or not.
Is there a way of getting rid of the ones I don't want without opening them, and if so, how do I do it?

Open the mail app. At the top of the email list you will see the 'Edit' button. Tap this and empty circle checkboxes will appear next to your messages. Tap the checkboxes of the emails you want to delete and then hit the Red delete button.

  • Why doesn't email delete on the gmail server when I delete them on iPhone? I've removed the archive feature on iPhone. So I get the delete option for my emails. I'm using the EXCHANGE server on iPhone for email.
  • Why do my emails delete themselves automatically? Some but not all emails I received are deleted automatically. They are not spam or junk, but they are no where to be found - not in the trash/deleted messages, inbox, junk or spam. I know I received them because they show on the iPhone notification screen, but when I click on them, they are not there at all. Can't find it on computer, yahoo web mail, or iPhone hand set. This has happened since about a week ago. Any idea why and how to fix this?
  • If I delete the twitter app on my iPhone, will it delete all the data on it? My twitter app is not loading and keeps saying there's an error. I know this isn't twitter's problem because all of my friends' twitters are working fine. I want to uninstall and reinstall it but by doing so, what will it all erase?
  • How to delete emails that are, say, 3 years or older? Like 3-4 years ago I went through this thing where I refused to delete any emails, including unread ones. Now on my iphone I have an annoying notification that says I have 1, 492 unread messages. Is there any way for me to delete like really old messages while keeping my emails that are still relatively new?
