How long does it take to charge an iPhone that has been dead for nearly three weeks?

So, I gave my iPhone to somebody almost three weeks ago to fix the screen. I got it back today, and the screen is perfect, but it will not turn on. It has been charging for six hours and all I get is a blank screen with the charging bar showing it is still dead. Holding the lock button doesn't work, and neither does holding the home and lock button at the same time. How can I turn it on, even if it's only at 2%? I know - #firstworldproblems -but I haven't had it for three weeks and it's driving me crazy! Does anybody know if it is normal for my iPhone 4 to take so long to charge if it has been dead for three weeks?

No, it isn't normal. It shouldn't take any more than 4 hours. Sounds to me like its faulty. I'm not for bullying or anything… But you should beat the **** out of whoever you gave it to.
Just my opinion!

If the iPhone was fully discharged and was left that way for a long period, the battery may have been permanently damaged.

Normally when the iPhone says zero charge, there's actually still some charge left. That's because completely discharging a Li-ion battery like that of the iPhone can damage the battery. Therefore the iPhone considers a low charge to be "zero" and shuts down. This prevents complete discharge of the battery in most cases. But the phone still draws a tiny bit of current even when it's off, so if you don't charge the battery for a long period, it will discharge completely, and then you may never be able to charge it again. That may be what happened in your case.

You said you gave for fixing display? Was it working before that. If it was working, you should contact the person who repaired the screen.

  • My iPhone 5s has been dead for over a year is there any way to turn it back on? I've tried pressing all the buttons down for a couple seconds and the hairdryer trick, but they didn't work. I want to use my iPhone 5s for storing pictures and music because I'm already running out of space on my iPhone 6s. I don't want to spend money going to the Apple Store to get it fixed. Is there anything I can do to turn it back on? Nothing comes up it's just a black screen.
  • How long does it take an iPhone to recharge after it had been dead a long time? My cousin just gave me her old iPhone 5. It's in good condition but it's been sitting in her drawer for months. I don't know how many months but a pretty long while. Anyways, i out it on the charger and it hasn't moved from the red. It's been on maybe… At least a half hour. Is it okay? I don't know anything about these machines lol.
