How long will my iPhone 5S remain fast and smooth?

I got an iPhone 4 as soon as it came out and took great car of it for about 3 years. But after two years it started to become slow and after I hit 3 years, it was almost unusable because it couldn't handle ios 7. I know we can only estimate but since the iphone 5S is A LOT more powerful than the iPhone 4, should it last more than 3 years and hold up well?

I think it might last about 2 year just because of how fast technology is improving. I really suggest you wait till iPhone 6 is out because that is gonna be even more powerful and i know that will be able to last 3 years.

It's not the phone. Well not the hardware anyway. If its slowing down it has to do with the software. I bet restoring the phone as new using itunes would help with performance greatly.

The more apps gets heavier with new visuals and background services. They will cause the phone reduce performance.

  • Will my whatsapp history remain if I change my sim? I'm overseas on holiday for a month now and am getting a local sim for my iPhone 5S. I know for a fact that without an active sim, you can't see your old whatsapp conversations and I don't need it now. But if I get a new temporary sim, once I'm done using it next month, and I plug in my original SIM card, will I be able to retrieve my old conversations?

We both play Flappy Bird, but it seems so slow on his phone… My other friend has it on his iPhone 4S, and it still seems slow. It runs smoothly on my phone… My mum has an Xperia Z1 and it's smooth on her phone. What is it with the iPhone version?
