How much should I save up for an iphone 5s?

I want to save up for an iPhone 5s, but I don't really know how much. How much should I save up, including the contract.

Almost a thousand

I will be $200 for the phone and about $35+ every month for 2 years.

  • Should I get Iphone 3gs or save up more to get iphone 4? 3gs is pretty cheap nowdays and it looks nice actually. I want to use it for whatsapp, kik, instagram, fb. But I'm not sure is this model completely outdated and i should go for 4?
  • Should I buy the Iphone 5, or just save my money? I have saved enough money of my own to buy one, which is on a no contract plan. But the problem is it's still alot. I have a cell phone that works perfectly well. If I save my money, I can do so much more things with it. TBH I think deep down the only reason I want the iphone is because it seems like everyone else has it except me. What do you think I should do? Thoughts?
