How to activate my Iphone 5? - 2

So I had an Iphone 5 from verizon, I was the original owner. I lost it one night at a party, and after not being able to find it anywhere at the house I reported it stolen to verizon. Turns out a few weeks later after i had activated an older phone to fill the void my friend who's house I was at texted me and let me know he found my iphone somewhere around the house.

Being the original owner if I bring the phone to a Verizon store will they be able to reactivate the iphone for me?

This may seem like a silly question, but I'm not that informed about cell phone plans really… I've had a iPhone 5 for the past year and a half through Verizon. It broke today. Like full on broke nto covered by insurance… I found a Verizon iPhone 4 for sale for like 70 bucks in great condition from someone on craigslist. If I buy that, can I go into Verizon with it and have them activate it for me and have it be my new phone? Does this make sense?
