How to connect to the internet on a 3DS?

I've been trying to use my iPhone 4S' Wi-Fi hotspot for my 3DS, it works fine for connecting to the internet/updating etc but it doesn't work for visiting/being visited on my animal crossing new leaf games… It just comes up with an error code every single time. I tried Googling what I could do and the US nintendo site says to set up an IP address for my 3ds, so I tried that and it didn't work. Is there a UK version? I tried the UK nintendo site but it doesn't have anything about that. Is there anything I need to do?

Because the 3DS support WPA but Animal Crossing only supports WEP…

  • Why won't my xbox 360 connect to the internet but will connect to my iphone hotspot? Ill play cod bo2 almost daily and my xbox will connect to my mobile hotspot on my iphone 4s fine, but out of no where it will lag out and disconnect me from xbox live, its not a hardware issue everything connects normally, full bars and everything the phone still lets me get on the internet, but my xbox will not, why D:?
  • Why is my netflix so slow on my nintendo 3ds? Yesterday I bought regular nintendo 3ds and pokemon.So, i downloaded netflix app on my 3ds. I already have my netflix account. The movies are still loading forever… That's long so how can i fix that? My laptop, iphone 5, ps3, wii u, and xbox 360 are fine with netflix but not 3ds. It is so slow! I have comcast and TP-link router. I think tp-link sucks because of slow right?
  • Should I sell my Nintendo 3DS for an Iphone 4? I've always been interested in Apple products. But I could never afford them. I've had my 3DS for a while now, and hardly every play it anymore. Do you guys think it's a good idea to sell it and buy an iphone 4 or 4S? I'm not into the 5 very much. And I don't see a difference between 4 and 4S besides the camera. Can somebody tell me whether I should sell it or not, and whether to get the 4 or 4S if i do?
