How to get more space on my iPhone? - 1

I currently have an iPhone 4S and I barely have any space. The thing that's taking up the most space is my pictures which is taking 5.2 GB. I went threw all of my pictures and now only have 34 photos and 27 videos but it still says that it's taking up 5.2 GB. How do I get more space on my phone?

Depending on how long those videos are, they may be your problem. Videos take up much more space than images, especially if they are extremely long. I recommend syncing the videos onto a computer, them deleting them off of your phone.

Likely it's the videos. They take up a lot more space than a picture. Think 30 frames per second so 10 seconds of video is 300 pictures *with* the added space of the audio track.

The thing to do is to hook it up to iTunes and look at the storage meter. It'll show you how much space is being taken up by what (apps, music, pictures and videos, etc) and you can then trim from there.

Suggestions to get more space is to take an honest assessment of the apps you have installed. If there are any you don't use on a regular basis and don't really see yourself using… Delete them, even if you've paid for them. As long as you made the purchase with your iTunes account (and free apps are still a purchase), you can re-download them should you ever find that you want/need the app in the future.

Also do the same with your music. Think about when you listen to your music. If you find that there are songs that you keep skipping over, that's a sign that you're not interested in the song at this time and can remove it from the phone. You can always swap it back if you're ever in the mood for it again.

If that still doesn't work, then you can do a backup of your phone and then a factory wipe to bring it up as a clean slate and then restore the apps, pics, videos and the music that you want.

Yeah, i agree wid PAM. Videos usually take more space n dat too if they are the HD ones. So either sync them with your PC n remove from phone… Or if you want them with your phone only then you can convert them to phone formats n there storage size will probably minimize…

Hope this helps.

  • Will buying more iCloud space let me download more apps, songs, and photos? So i have deleted apps that i don't really need and deleted songs i don't listen to but still there's not enough space to even take a photo, A pop up comes up that says to manage my icloud storage. Would purchasing more icloud storage allow me to download more apps and have more songs and pictures on my iPhone 4 from sprint? It is an 8gb i think.
  • Why does my Iphone music take up more space than it should? I have 1831 songs on my Iphone, very little photos or apps. Yet the songs themselves are taking up 11GB of space on my Iphone. Which seems way more than it should be to me. I was wondering why it is taking up so much room and is there any way I can fix this?
  • What is the best way to backup iphone to get more space? I can't update this iphone so I need to remove 3.6GB of photos and 3.2GB of music. I don't use icloud… Should i? Maybe place the phone into the computer and use itunes to backup and remove?
  • More you use an app the more space it takes up on iPhones and iPads? I have an iPad and new iPhone 5 that I just got. I have rhapsody on both the same app and amount of music basically (iPad as seven more songs on app) but on the iPad the rhapsody app takes up 2.8 GB and the iPhone takes up 1.8GB. Why is that? The more use the app the more space it takes up even if you're not adding new content?
