There are different policies, depending on if you are looking for an international or domestic unlock.

International:
The phone will need to be capable of being unlocked for use in other countries (gsm capable, meaning it actually takes a sim card.) The person requesting the international unlock should be a current Sprint customer that can authenticate with a pin number… OR if it used to be on an account, and no longer is, the person making the request still needs to authenticate, and the device will also have needed to be active on the account for at least 50 consecutive days. If the account it was on is cancelled, it needs to have been cancelled 45 days ago or less. The account can't be delinquent, and the phone can't be reported as lost/stolen.

Domestic:
You will also need the pin for the account, in order for Sprint to verify that all the requirements are met. All contracts… Meaning service agreements, lease or installment billing.ect must be complete, no money owed on the account or the phone. The phone should be capable of a domestic unlock. All of the iPhones before the iPhone 5 were not capable of being unlocked, it is because of their technology, it' s not possible. The phone should have been active on a Sprint account for 50 consecutive days. The account must be in good standing and the device can't be reported as lost or stolen.
