How to install iOS 7 on my iphone 4 8GB? -Not enough memory?

So there's like no room even when I deleted the majority of the stuff off of my phone. My phone isn't backed up and I'm afraid that if I do, I might lose stuff. I've had people tell me to just plug it into iTunes and it should update, even if you don't have 2.9GB of storage. I would, but I'm still worried that I may lose everything when I update it. Has anyone else had this problem that could help me out? It would be much appreciated!

Plug in your phone to iTunes, and back it up. Then remove all the music and photos on your phone (make sure you do this through iTunes, NOT your phone)
if you still don't have enough storage, remove a lot of your apps (when you reload them, the data will still be there)

then you should have enough storage.unplug your phone, and update it from your settings. It should take like 15 mins.once its done, plug your phone in to iTunes and re-add everything!
