How to restore an iPhone locked in DFU mode?

My iPhone 4S is locked in DFU mode. I was trying to restore it to apples factory settings. It is jailbroken. And I've tried a lot of things. It usually stops on "preparing your iPhone for recovery". And it just stays there and never actually recovers. Any tips and help would be appreciated.

TinyUmbrella has this function to sort of "kick" your iPhone out of the DFU mode. Try the "Exit recovery" button. If that doesn't work, then go for the "Fix recovery".
