How to send iMessages to non-iPhone users?

I have an iPhone 5c and I can't afford a plan, so I'm using iMessage, but whenever I try to text non-iPhone users it won't send.

You can't just iphones users

IMessage only can go to iPhones/iPads/iPods/Macs. If your friends have iPads etc., then get their apple ID info from them and you'd be able to message them. Otherwise, use Facebook messenger etc.

You can't, imessage is only for iphone users (or actually ipod and ipad users can send/receive imessage also even without a contract of any type… And I'm guessing the Apple Watch also falls into that same category)

  • Why won't my iPhone send messages to non-iPhone users? I've had my iPhone 4 for a while now, I go through Virgin Mobile. I've never had problems until recently, but it's really strange. I can text certain people with non-iPhones, but some I get an error. I can receive theirs always. Any resolutions? I have changed the contact from iPhone to just mobile… Still doesn't do the trick. I have turned off MMS. No such luck.

  • Straight Talk iPhone 6S won't send pics to non-apple phone users? My daughter gave me her old Straight Talk Iphone 6S. She unlocked the phone so I could use it with my carrier but then we decided to stay with Straight Talk. I'm unable to send Bitmoji's and photos to non-Iphone users. I can't turn on the MMS feature, it's hidden. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?
  • New iPhone 6s+ won't let me send pictures to non iPhone users? I can send pictures just fine to anyone on iMessage but if they don't have it I can't. I use to have AT&T when I had my iPhone 5c and I could send pictures just fine. But now with my iPhone 6s+ with sprint I can't send them to anyone with a Samsung or basically anything not Apple. Help?! It's really frustrating considering not all my friends own iPhones.
