How to unlock my at&t iphone 4s to allow it to work on verizon?

I recently bought an iPhone 4s off of Craigslist. The seller said that it was Verizon. Later I came to find out that the iPhone was actually for AT&T and not for Verizon. Is there any way that I can make this AT&T iPhone work for Verizon? Can I take it to the at&t store to have it unlocked so it would work for Verizon? Or would Verizon unlock it for me so that I'm able to use it with their network?

A AT&T Iphone will not work on the Verizon network. The AT&T network is GSM(uses sim cards), the Verizon network is CDMA(does not use sim cards).

AT&T is GSM network and Verizon is CDMA network. So even if you unlock it. It is of no use.
