How to update my iPhone 5 to IOS 8 instead of IOS 9?

Apple no longer signs those versions of iOS, so I don't think that there's a way to update to a specific verison

Not possible. Rex is correct. Apple isn't allowing any iOS 8 install.

About five minutes into the update iTunes in my computer stops working, causing the update to of course stop working. Now my phone will not turn on. On the screen it is black with the 'charge symbol' as if it were low on battery and an iTunes symbol. I have tried turning my phone off and on, but of course it didn't respond.
