How to wirelessly turn off my iMac?
I have an apple remote and with the app XBMC opened I can wirelessly shut down my computer with the apple remote. I just wanted to know if there was a way I could turn it on? If there was an app available maybe on an iPhone or iPad? Or if I can buy something that can allow me to do this?
"… A way I could turn it on?"
No. The infra-red port needs power. Until the computer is on, the power is not there.
"… If there was an app available… "
Apps run only when the computer is on.
You can add a power-on time to the ROM like this…
- Open System Preferences > Energy Saver.
- Click the "Schedule… " button.

- Laptop won't connect wirelessly but other devices do? I recently changed ISPs. When the guy left I was on the internet wirelessly on the laptop but the next day the only way I could get online on the laptop was through an Ethernet cable connected to the router. I have a Linksys WRT54G… But I don't think it is the router. Our iPhones, Nintendo Wii and wireless printer can connect wirelessly but my laptop won't. Any suggestions?
