I deleted all my messages from my iPhone, but it still says it's taking up a bunch of space?

I completely cleared all of my messages, all conversations, everything. (Might I add it was very heartbreaking to delete some.) I'm trying to clear up storage so I can update my phone, but it still says my messages are taking up 4.0GB! I don't know what to do, please someone help.

Don't erase the messages. Back up your apps locally to iTunes on your PC. Then delete them from the iPhone to make enough room for the update. It needs almost 3gb to unload but only takes up 700mb when it's done. After the update, put the apps back on.
Best luck.

  • My iphone says i'm connected to Wi-Fi but when i try to run something it says i'm not connected? My phone shows signal, it has a check mark by the device but when i try to open an app it says can't find a connection.
  • IPhone still says i have 20GB of photos when i deleted everything? And before you ask, yes i deleted everything from my recently deleted folder and yes i tried the date & time trick, nothing worked. Its frustrating because thats 20GB i could be using for something else. I backed up all my photos and everything is deleted and gone but it still says something is occupying 20 gigs on my phone. Is there a fix for this? Or will i have to call apple or actually go into the store
