I dropped my iphone 4 in the toilet? - 1

So a few days ago, on Thursday, I was at school and had to use the bathroom. I always take my phone out of my back pocket before but that time i forgot and when i pulled down my pants it went straight into the toilet. I took it out and shook it to get some water out but had to go back to class. In the middle of class i checked the time and the screen wouldn't even turn on. I had to wait about an hour until i got home but on my way there the screen flickered on a few times. Eventually i got it on long enough to turn the phone off. But then it turned back on and every time i turned it off, it would turn on again. Eventually it stayed off and i put it in a baggie with rice and left it for a little over 24 hours. Then my dad took it out and plugged it in last night and told me to use it that night while I was at a football game. So i did, but on the way home it flickered more so i turned it off then put it in rice the rest of the night.today it was sunny so i put it outside in the baggie with rice and noticed some water did come out but i don't know how long to wait. The screen will still flicker if i turn it on and sometimes the screen just turns black after I unlock the phone, how long should i wait until i use my phone?

Added (1). No, I like the iPhone. And I know i didn't even want him to turn it on. He's a smart man I don't know why he would even turn it on in the first place.

Added (2). And yeah I was already going to buy the iphone 5 before i messed up this phone, but until October 12 I still have to use this

Your phone has probably shorted out the main board. You did that by turning it on while it was still wet inside. Electricity runs through it when it is powered on, and inevitably it gets shorted out. In the future, dry out the phone thoroughly before turning it back on.

Time for a new phone.

Oh man go after android!
Just see features of galaxy s3!

's splash rezistant and hammer resistant!

That happens to me all the time. All you have to do is put it an a plastic baggy of rice. The reason being, is because the rice is absorbent. It absorbs water very well. Try it… It should work, it did for me!

How does it smell right now it smells good?

That happened to my friend just a couple of days ago. This is what you need to do. I learned from other people that a lot of electronics only die when they are wet however they recover once they are dry. (For example, I have heard of people who accidentally had their PSP washed in the washing machine. They opened it up and allowed it to dry and it worked fine afterwards. And my friend's phone has came back to life after like 3 days) Although this is not always the case, it happens a lot of times. So what you need to do is dry your phone as much as possible. Keep in mind that the iPhone was manufactured with incredible precision and that the gaps in which water could excape is very small. So, you should try burrying your phone in a bowl of raw rice or newspaper or something so it can soak up the moisture. This might take several days so do not give up if your phone is still not working after one night or two. Try to put your phone in a warm (not hot) and dry environment so that the water could dry up As soon as possible. If your Apple warrenty has expired, you could unscrew the back cover and open it to make it dry up faster. (However, if you do open your phone, do not touch anything on the inside because ESD, aka electrostatic discharge, could kill sensitive electronic parts permanently.).

PUT IT IN RICE! My friend dropped her touch phone in water and she left it in rice for like @ days and it started working after!
