I found a cord that connects something to the tv?

At one end it connects to headphone holes (fits in iphone, mp3s etc) and on the other end has that Yellow White Red cord that game consoles usually have for display, and i don't know how it works, i connected it to my iphone, played a song, and browsed all the input on my tv for it and couldnt find it anywhere. Can anyone tell me how to use this cord or what it is actually for?

I have a cord that looks like that. Mine is used to connect a portable DVD player to a TV. In fact, my portable DVD player can also be used as a display. So that same connector also allows me to connect anything with video/audio and play it through my portable DVD player.

Does the cable look like this?

It is for camcorders and some portable DVD players. It may work on some phones.

Examine the "headphone" plug carefully. If it looks exactly like any other 3.5 mm stereo headphone plug, then the conclusion is that the cord is basically an audio converter -- headphone plug on one end and red/white RCA stereo plugs on the other.

But if that's the case, the yellow plug makes no sense -- that would be for composite video, and there's (normally) no way to connect video via the headphone plug.

While the "headphone plug" end of the cord may be mysterious, the tricolor end is not -- that's absolutely for a composite connection, like the AV input on a TV.

Followup: the cord in gkk's reference could be it. It has a third sleeve on the shaft that would enable the cord to pass composite video in addition to stereo audio.

  • What should I do so that my iphone connects to known Wi-Fi automatically? So recently I reset my network settings as someone said that I should do that to lose a problem (my phone was giving me two text alerts when I've only received one. Yes I checked the notifier already which I put to never) so that problem is solved but now everytime I get home, I have to key back in my Wi-Fi password whereas last time it would automatically connect. I've been resetting my network settings a few times but nothing has changed.
