I need an inexpensive camera for capturing license plates at night?

There's a group of kids that will drive down my street laying on their horn every night between 8pm and 10pm. I've caught a few by running out of my house and chasing them down for their license plate number. Unfortunately, there are more that I haven't caught, and I'm looking for a reliable camera to capture their license plate numbers as they drive by. Can anyone recommend something? I've tried my iPhone and the license plate is washed out.

Unfortunately, you won't find a camera like that. The best you could hope to do would be to have a very strong flash unit attached to a DSLR camera. Of course, just having the flash might give the kids reason to fear what might be happening.

Why don't you just call the cops?

Id just let the cops know and they'll park a car or 2 and just watch it. They do make cameras that can record moving license plates but your best bet is get a high megapixel cctv camera and just record everything off that. It won't be perfect footage but it will capture enough for the cops. High shutter speed will help of course.

Vigilante justice never pays off. I would advise lodging a complaint with your local law enforcement and let them perform theor investigation.

Hi so as night vision technology is expensive at best there's no cheap cameras.

  • Which camera is better: An old General Imaging x500 Digital Camera or an iPhone 7 front camera? It looks like an iPhone only offers 7 MP while this camera boasts 16 MP but this camera is so old and looks worse at least on its own screen. I'm confused
  • What is the best inexpensive camera for low light action shots? I have recently had a baby and have been taking lots of pictures of him with my iPhone… I know… Bad. Needless to say I have missed out on a lot of great shots. Now that my baby is more active and never sits still I have an even harder time getting a good picture of him. I'm looking for a camera around $350 that is easy to use and will not produce blurry pictures. We're inside just as much as we're outside so a camera that does well in low light is a must.
  • TV License: Need It For TV Catchup for iPhone? I'm a university student & about to go for my 2nd year. My accommodation says you need to buy your own TV license if you want to bring your own tTVetc.etc. Do i still need a TV Licence if i watch TVCatchup on my iPhone through Wi-Fi?
  • Lost my California drivers license out of state? I lost my California drivers license, phone, and debit card to the bottom of a lake… There's absolutely no way I can go back to California because of work. How can I get a new license? I had an IPhone, will my contacts/pictures be restored when I get a new iPhone?
