If I buy an iphone separately can i activate it on verizon?

So I have an iphone and data plan already. If i buy myself another 4 (because mine is broken but usable) will i get charged if i activate it? Like basically if i replace my already activated iphone 4 with a new iphone 4, will it cost money?

If you do it online, there should be no cost. If you take it to the store, or do it over the phone, there might be a convenience fee. Log in at www.verizonwireless.com to activate it. (I haven't been charged in the past for switching phones that way)

They might charge you an activation fee, maybe $30. Your current plan and contract won't change. They're less likely to charge you if you activate it yourself instead of by calling a human at Verizon or by going to the Verizon store (but they might charge no matter what).

To activate online go to: http://www.verizonwireless.com/...eviceId.do

You can also activate by calling *228 from the phone you want to activate.

IMPORTANT: It has to be a *Verizon* iPhone.iPhones made for other carriers (AT&T, Sprint, etc.) won't work with Verizon (and vice-versa).
