IPhone 4 water damage - 1

I decided to go for a swim not realizing I had my iPhone in my pocket. After a minute or two I realized it when it started vibrating, then I quickly pulled it out of my pocket and gave it CPR. It vibrated in a strange pattern in my hand then wouldn't turn on. Without thinking I tried turning it on and it still didn't turn on. Then I left it in a purse for a few hours. I came back praying it would work, it obviously didn't. I came home and immediately put it in a container of dry rice and surrounded it. The LED light in the back was now on and later it turned off when I guess the iPhone ran out of charge. Then 10 hours later I took the dead batteries iPhone and put it on charge, the LED light in the back was now dim and flickering while on charge. I tried holding the power and home button praying again that it would work. It didn't so I unplugged it and stuck it back in rice. Is the motherboard toasted? What are the chances it will turn on? Is there anything else I can do to help it recover? Please don't tell me I'm screwed

Put it in a bowl filled with rice. I herd the rice absorbs the water.since it took a full emersion in the water i'm unsure if this will work but its well worth trying.

Ok for that long you might be in trouble but i had a similar proplem with my ipod but i left it in a container of rice for a week praying it would be okay and its worked fine since i took it out.

so id keep it in rice for a week and see if it still doesn't work i'm sorry and i don't know what else to say.

Wow… Just wow… When will people learn… Geesh… Power from charger or battery + water on motherboard and chips = snap crackle and pop!

people… Future googlers to this question… For the love of GOD… Please… If you get water damage, it goes into dry uncooked white rice for 24 hours straight… No charging… No seeing if it works… Just straight to the rice bowl and lots of tears and prays… The rice metod only works 30% of the time… So the odds are already against you…

Is the motherboard toasted?
--- i bet my inheritance on it…

What are the chances it will turn on?
--- umm… You have better odds winner the $340 MEga Millions jackpot!

Is there anything else I can do to help it recover?
--- leave it in rice for 2 days… Pray… But i would just call the time of death, call your wireless carrier, pray to god you got insurance on it and was smart… And file a $99 inurance claim to ge ta new iphone 4

Please don't tell me I'm screwed,(
--- you're screwed…

If the rice didn't work then what else will make it work? The phone sounds fully cooked and it will be a foolish idea if you waste your time trying to fix it, buy a new iPhone and look after it properly.

  • My iPhone 4 suffered heavy water damage, will it be okay? I went in the pool with it not realizing it was in my pocket. I was in the pool for about 5-10 minutes before I realized it was in my pocket. It was on when I went in the pool but was off when I got out. I now have it sitting in a bowl of rice and I plan on leaving it in there for a week, changing the rice it's in every 24 hours. Does anyone have any insight on this, like if there's any hope of it being okay or is it done for?
