Iphone 4 won't read the Sim

Recently my iphone broke due to water damage, I fianlly got a new one second hand of a mate free of charge, the phone was orginally on orange but I'm on 3 network, I took it to the store to see if it was unlocked and they checked it and told me it was, he then put my 3 sim into the iphone and told me it wouldn't read it, so I thought it was because maybe it had got wet from my old phone came intact with water due to dropping it down the toilet, when I got home I tried putting the orange sim back into the phone and it wouldn't read it, it would come up with SIM Failiure or invalid sim at the top, I tried my 3 sim back in it and I ggot the same message, iv put my sim into my sisters iphone and it read it fine, so now I'm worried if its a fault or not?
Can some please help me? Can I fix it? Is it the sim, a fault, or just the pphone and settings? Please need help as soon as possible!

Try putting another sim into the new (2nd hand) phone, if it works, then you'd probably be best buying a new sim card and putting that in.

your old sim just may not work in that phone.

  • Why Iphone 4S won't read T-mobile Sim card even though factory unlocked? I have an iphone 4S and it reads Att sim card no problem, i had the phone factory unlocked and it even said Congratulations your iPhone is unlocked after i restored it in iTunes, but all it says is no service i tried two different T-Mobile sim cards. I even checked my imei number online and it said the phone was factory unlocked. Is there anything i can try, i've never ran across something like this.

It's on the setup screen and when I try to get past it, it says "SIM Required". The phone is Sprint locked, I believe. I don't really have the money at the moment to buy an overpriced SIM card from Sprint + activation. Does anyone know if I buy any Micro SIM, will it work? IS there anything I can do without spending a bunch of money? ANY SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED!

  • IPhone5 read 5%, plugged in to charge then instantly read 26%? It's been doing this a lot lately. Earlier it read 37% and I restarted it and it read 63%. Do I have a bad battery or is the percentage reader just not accurate?
