IPhone 4s is stuck in recovery mode

My iPhone 4s constantly displays the connect to iTunes symbol. Upon connecting it to my computer iTunes prompts me to restore it from recovery mode. However every time I try the process it fails at the Verifying iPhone firmware stage. I have attempted this several times. Every time it comes up with an error message saying The iPhone "iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1)." At the Apple store they basically told me that I would need to buy a new phone. Does anyone know any tips or tricks to try and get it back to normal?

Try TinyUmbrella (search it on google)
answer mine?

There are few possibilities:

1. If you have been jailbreaking it and have tinyUmbrella, may be your host file has an entry for gs.apple.com that you need to remove

On mac, /etc/hosts
On Win, C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

2. If your iPhone was jailbroken, try putting the phone in DFU mode, and then try to restore…

3. Best option to use a different computer to do the restore…

4. Sometimes if the battery was almost dead before the restore, do a overnight charging and then restore again.

Based on what I read in your question, you are not able to reach Apple's server to verify your firmware details… Mostly the gs.apple.com entry in the hosts file

Hope this helps.
