I have an iphone 4s, which has been unlocked by verizon for both international and domestic use. I tried swtiching to walmartfamilymobile which uses the same network as tmobile.
when I insert my sim and turn on the phone i instantly receive a voicemail notification and a red dot apprears by the phone icon and on the voicemail icon. When i click the voicemail icon there's no voicemail, seems like some kind of bogus notification.
Further, at the top of the phone i see "No Service" and can't make or receive calls.
I have already given my imei to the family mobile representative and completed the activation. I have restarted the phone, erased all contents and settings, network settings, messed with turning data and cellular on and off and also gone into the carrier settings to verify i'm no longer on the verizon network.
But alas no success still have "No Service" Anyone had a problem like this?
May be the SIM is not activated yet. Do you have access to other SIM cards, you can ask your family members or friends if they've AT&T or T-Mobile or StraightTalk or MetroPCS micro-SIM card. You can try either one and see if the phone picks up signal. You won't need to do anything in settings or such, just put the SIM and see if that picks up signal or it's still saying "No Service". If the problem persists, it means the phone is not fully unlocked. For more info, feel free to mail me.

I want to get an iPhone 4S and my friend has the iPhone 4 unlocked but i'm worried that if i get it non-factory unlocked it won't work. My uncle tried to do it a couple of months ago and apple said that if it was factory unlocked every time the phone shut off or died it would reset. I was just wondering if the same thing would happen if it wasn't factory unlocked? So if I get it unlocked everytime it will shut off it will reset? That is what i'm worried about.

- I talked with someone that works at at&t and she unlocked my iphone 5 for me. How do i know if its actally unlocked? Or how can I check? She said My phone was unlocked and I could use it with any carrier but how do I know if its actually unlocked
