IPhone 4s Wi-fi isn't working

IPhone 4s Wi-fi isn't working.

I know there are a lot of forums and articles already explaining what is wrong but my problem, I believe, is different. I do get a grayed Wi-Fi button, however, sometimes I can actually turn on and off the Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, even when I can turn on the Wi-Fi and the grayed out button problem goes away, it still doesn't detect the available Wi-Fi networks available for me to join… And rarely when it does, I try to connect, put the password in etc but it ends up saying "unable to join.". People say it is the Wi-Fi chip which is burnt out/fried, however if my Wi-Fi chip was fried then it wouldn't turn on at all meaning the chip isn't the problem. I've tried to forget networks, freeze it, heat it etc, all of that good stuff. Still no use. I really believe my chip isn't the problem and it CAN be fixed compared to other 4S', so if anybody has any ideas please let me know because Apple are just evil, they told me I have to pay £142 to get it fixed!

  • Why isn't Wi-Fi working on my iPhone? 3G works (that's what I'm using now) but Safari or anything else that uses internet won't load when I use Wi-Fi. Why won't it work?
  • Why isn't the 3g on my iPhone working? It just has a E sign, and nothing will work. Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Youtube, etc. I tried restarting it, it still won't work._.
  • Why isn't my iPhone charger working? I have an iPhone and it was working fine but yesterday when I plugged it into my phone it would not charge. So I tried my brother's iPhone charger and it worked. I looked it up online and I think there's a problem with my USB cable and not the wall charger itself. What do I do?
  • Left side of my iphone 4 screen isn't working? Nothing on the left side can be pressed! I did a hard reset (pressing the home and off button) but it didn't work. Then i completely reset it, but there's no difference. I don't have an apple store where i live, how can i fix my phone? Btw, i can still do the *slide to unlock* which is odd, considering that that requires use of the screen's left side
