Iphone 5 - SIM card not valid

Just got an iphone 5 and put an o2 nano SIM card in and when setting up it displays this message;

SIM Not Valid

'The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.'

I bought this phone unlocked, by the way.

Is there anyway I can get it up and running?

Take it into an O2 shop and buy the correct SIM card. However, if you bought an unlocked phone, doing that will probably reveal if it was stolen - so you may find that you have been sold something which is never actually going to work.

  • What does sim not valid mean on iPhone 5? What does this mean? Because the phone carrier on my phone is EE and they recently sent me a new SIM card for my iPhone 5 and they have to activate it and they said I have to wait for it to be activated so does this mean that it isn't activated or does it mean something else?
