IPhone 5S Maps app, is it set for Fastest or Shortest route?

I have the standard iOS 7 iPhone 5S maps application and I have sometimes wondered if it's giving me the shortest route (10.4 Miles vs. 13.8 Miles), or the fastest route (18 Minutes vs. 12 Minutes). I would like to know so I can know if I'm going the fastest route or not.

Fastest, you could easily change this in settings if you want. Hope this helps
