IPHONE CARRIER PROBLEM! T-MOBILE?

So minutes ago, I used an IMEI checker to see if an iPhone I found on Ebay is still tied up to T-Mobile. So when I entered the IMEI and pressed check, it showed me that the "Device has an outstanding balance". What does that mean and how will that effect me if I decide to purchase the phone?

It means that you may not be able to unlock it to all carriers, may not be able to use it on T-Mobile unless you pay what's owed, or in the worst case with some types of contract that the seller does not actually own the phone and that if the bill remains unpaid T-Mobile might put a permanent block on the phone making it useless.

There are huge numbers of used iPhones with no such problems so taking risks is foolish. Look for another one. It means that if you buy it, you will buy a phone that you can't activate unless the seller pays off the balance of the phone first. Since that is not going to happen in your lifetime, you may as well turn the phone into any T-Mobile or Apple store, and they can get it back to the owner.

Any phone reported lost or stolen or shows that it is still being financed is automatically Blacklisted but the carrier. And all other carriers honor the blacklist, so you can't activate it or sell it to anyone, without telling them it is unusable.

So DO NOT buy this phone, because if you do, you won't be getting your money back from the scammer, no matter what they tell you they are going to do after you send the money/ Do not buy the phone. After a period of time T-mobile will Blacklist the phone, disabling it.

  • Is Virgin Mobile a good carrier? Iphone? Hi, I'm interested in purchasing an apple iphone 4s from virgin mobile. Their plans are significantly cheaper than at&t or verizon and i don't have to be in a contract. But I don't know how good the internet is. I live in Florida so the network should be everywhere. But will it take a long time to load pages, will calls drop?
