IPhone dropped in water

I dropped my phone in the toilet (was in my back pocket and fell out when I pulled my pants down) and It had a case so I took it out and removed the case and dried off turned it off out it in rice and let it sit for a day. I turned it on and everything works perfectly. HOWEVER I not have these blotches and vertical lines down the right right on my screen by the speaker. It just keeps getting worse. I had it in rice for another 6 hours and nothing worked. Are these water stains or a hardware malfunction? (I'm not familiar with iPhones just got it a month ago) the screen above these lines work I'm just wondering if I should be worried

No, iphones can totally survive in water, (at least iphone 4 which i dropped in Boiling water)

Get a bowl place your phone in the middle of rice and the rice would obsorve the water throughout the night

Your phone is toast. It will last only a short time before it quits working completely. I hope you had some type of insurance on it, because your going to need a new phone.

What you need to do is completely shut down your phone, and leave it in rice for another day (or as long as you can, maybe even more than a day). This can help remove any of the extra water

Take a damp wash cloth and wash it with that. If it does not clear up in a couple days just bring it to the place you got the iPhone from and see if they can do it. Make sure you take the battery out and was all that and the case

Remove the battery, sim card and any other cards.

Wrap a towel around it and secure it with string, or tape. Then toss it in the dryer for 10 minutes (or longer. 15-20 would be more effective).

Let it cool.

Return the cards to the rightful slots.

Insert battery.

Power up.

Iphone's aren't waterproof. If you leave it in some rice overnight, and these lines still are there, then something in the hardware was damaged. The blotches are most likely water or at least water stains, yes, but the vertical lines would be a problem with the hardware, and if those are still there after the rice, then it is a hardware issue. If the entire screen does not function, then that will be a burden on you, having to deal with a broken screen.

Whatever you do, do not place the iPhone in a bowl of uncooked rice for a full day. That is a terrible idea. The chalk/dust from the rice will definitely make the situation worse. You need to completely shut down the phone, leave it turned off for about 24 hours if you can hold out, attempt to turn it back on. Usually it will end up drying itself out in time. If you only dropped it in there for like 2 seconds VS 5 minutes, you have a higher chance of survival. However if the problem persists, you need to contact your carrier about insurance or warranty options to get it replaced.
